Q. Who is eligible to apply for a grant from the Foundation?
A. Legal entities registered in the Czech Republic may apply for a grant from the Foundation. Some programs have expanded terms which include foreign entities, others more narrowly focused terms defined in the rules of the specific program, depending on the theme of the program.
Q. How do I apply for a grant from the Foundation?
A. You can apply for a grant from the Foundation on-line using our grant portal Flexi Grant at https://avastfoundation.flexigrant.com/default.aspx. First you must register, then select the form for the invitation that is currently open.
Q. How and with whom can I consult about my application?
A. Each of our programs includes contact details of a professional you may consult in accordance with the rules of the program. You can reach us at granty@avast.com for general inquiries.
Q. Can I set up an in-person meeting with a Foundation representative?
A. We value the fact that we receive many applications for grants and cooperation. These bring with them a considerable number of requests to meet face-to-face. We make every effort to be available and get to know our partners in person, however, this is not always possible because of time and resource constraints. We therefore ask you to carefully consider everything that can be done today by email or telephone. We welcome constructive and effective telephone s regarding applications.
Q. May I apply for a grant from the Foundation as a private individual?
A. No, the Foundation provides grants to legal entities only. We fund individuals only through other organizations which are set up to provide such support.
Q. Where can I learn which programs are currently accepting grant applications?
A. Legal entities registered in the Czech Republic may apply for a grant from the Foundation. Some programs have expanded terms which include foreign entities, others more narrowly focused terms defined in the rules of the specific program, depending on the theme of the program.
Q. What is Flexi Grant and why do I need to register to access it?
A. Flexi Grant is a grant portal, through which we accept applications for a Foundation grant for all programs, and through which grantee organizations administer their grant and submit related accounts. We do not accept applications submitted by other means.
Q. How much time will I need to complete the grant application using the Flexi Grant system?
A. Foundation applications are generally very simple and give you the freedom to write up the project to meet your specific needs. Once registered, you do not need to re-enter your contact details in subsequent applications.
Q. Who makes the decision to support a project?
A. The final decision to support a project is made by the Foundation Supervisory Board. Decisions about the Together till the End and Start Together programs are made by the board based on recommendations from a review panel of experts.
Q. What do I need to complete as a grant-seeker?
A. For most programs you simply complete the grant application and submit it using the Flexi Grant system. We do not require any paper documents in support of an application. Where the program terms require something extra, such as a recommendation, partner agreement etc., these are simply uploaded into the grant system in PDF format. If you would like to add a document to your application, this can be saved as an optional attachment.
Q. If I receive a grant, how will I need to report on the implementation and success of the project?
A. All grantee partners will receive reporting instructions with their contract. All of our partners report on their projects by January 31 each year covering what has happened on the project in the preceding calendar year. Partners who have been awarded a grant, but have not yet begun to draw on funds in the previous year, must also complete a report. They provide this information in the text of an interim report. All others must also upload a table of accounts into Flexi - this is essential for our management and auditors.
Once the project is closed a final report with an overall project account must be completed in Flexi.
Q. What should I do if circumstances require a change in how funds are drawn from the budget?
A. We understand that circumstances may require changes to the budget. Send them in a brief and clear explanatory email to granty@avast.com. Changes are approved only via email. If we have approved a change during the course of the project, then you must upload this email as a PDF attachment to the interim and closing reports.
